Kathy Burrell

Kathy Burrell is a Reader in Human Geography at the University of Liverpool. Her research explores different aspects of migration and has focused especially on people moving from Poland. She is interested in themes related to home, belonging, place and memory; mobilities and material culture; cultural representations of migration and the so-called ‘refugee crisis’; and migration governance, race and migrants’ relationships with the state. Prior to this project, her most recent research investigated Polish migration to the UK, Sweden and Norway, comparing the different national contexts and focusing on themes and issues such as digital migration bureaucracies, whiteness and Brexit. Kathy will be working on ‘Practising Home’.
