Observing aspects of my life from above has been a preoccupation in my work for several years. Being confined and not able to leave the house in real life has meant that I was confronted with using my memory and an aerial viewpoint to go where ever I wanted. As I painted various features came alive. I remembered how I felt at the time, whether in a rural place or in a town. It gave me a sense of power in a time when I had very little.

1) ‘Explored once’ Oil on linen. 30 x 40 cm 2020. A regular bike ride to a friend's house during childhood in S. England.

4) Studio Walk. Oil on Linen. 30 x 40 cm 2020. A feeling of longing to return to my Studio 2 miles away through two parks. I trace the route though the air.

5) ‘200 m to the shops’ Oil on Linen 30 x 40 cm. 2020. A favourite walk imagined aerially: past houses, Through a burial ground, past a Field, huge trees, a red bus station To brightly lit shops and people!

2) ‘Once walked’ Oil on Linen. 30 x 40 cm. 2020. A bucolic amble through lanes, by a river past big and small houses in S. England.

3) ‘Explored Once’ Oil on canvas 30 x 40 cm 2020. A painting concentrating on the close ‘footprint’ of 2 local churches. Ancient burial grounds, green Spaces surrounded by roads, concrete and houses.
