Objects that have sustained me during lockdown:

Mike: Mini Mike Covid nurse: The knitted, masked doll belongs to Mike who works as a Covid-19 nurse. It usually hangs in the window but came out to be photographed.

Mike speaking of his experience working as an intensive care nurse during Covid-19:

I spent my night breaks in tears while patients, nearby, were gasping for air. My colleagues, young nurses and support staff from around the world, held fear in their eyes. But although we lost battles, we tackled what was in front of us and did our best.

I thought I was up for it. I exercised daily, ate well and slept. My family was filled with love and admiration for what I was doing. But I took a kicking, became coiled and unbalanced. But, I'm back, uncoiled and rebalanced. If we get a second peak, I know I’ll return. There’s no place I’d rather be than on the frontline, doing my job.
